One small effort by four sisters wanting to raise money for a cause they loved has turned into a massive yard sale. Over the years, this one event has involved hundreds of people and has raised almost $600,000! These yard sale funds have been used to open four community centers in several of India's largest and poorest slums. Each Vision Rescue Community Center provides education, vocational training, medical and dental care, a nutrition program, and other programs customized to serve the needs of that particular community.

The 2022 Yard Sale will support our ongoing education initiative. Children are being raised in poor living conditions with unhealthy lifestyles, causing them to remain in a vicious cycle of poverty. These children are often at high risk of being embroiled in a life of substance abuse and anti-social behavior. Our community centers and bus program provide nutritious meals and non-formal education for children from slum communities who otherwise would not have the opportunity to pursue an education. Your support will enable us to continue impacting the lives of thousands of children.

This year, we plan to raise $150,000.

Here's how you can help.

On-going support includes the following:

1. Funding a Child for one year in the program - $540.

2. Funding one classroom (60 kids in two sessions) for one year - $2,700.

3. Funding a teacher’s salary for a year - $3,600.

4. Funding a 6-month tailoring course for one person - $131.

In addition, we have the following projects that we would love to fund.

1. CCTV upgrades for Beacon Learning Center (BLC) classrooms - $5,000.

2. Laptops, Systems and Equipment for each slum community - $7,150.

3. Televisions for the BLC classrooms for digital learning - $7,200.

4. School starter kits for the 2023 school year – 1,500 kits at $35 each or $52,500 total.

5. Funding a three-day staff retreat - $25,000.

You may also donate used items (furniture, appliances, electronics, toys, kitchenware, etc) which will be sold at the Yard Sale on Friday + Saturday, November 11th + 12th, 2022. To schedule a drop off, please contact adam@visionrescue.us

About Vision Rescue

Vision Rescue was born in 2004 out of a seemingly simple act of service by founder, Biju Thampy. In response to the desperate needs of the street children in Mumbai, Biju began regularly distributing snacks at a busy train station. However, he quickly realized that to transform the lives of these children, they must learn basic life skills. This dream led to the purchase of our first mobile school bus, and the rest is history. Today, Vision Rescue strives to fulfill its mission to free children and their family members from all forms of exploitation by engaging and sustaining them in education, which empowers them to change mindsets and make good life choices which will promote inter-generational transformation.
